TEHRAN, Sep. 02 (MNA) – Iran National Science Foundation (INSF) President Dr. Nosratollah Zargham and Chairman of the Board of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) Dr. Vladislav Panchenko signed a memorandum of understanding dubbed as a new chapter in Iran-Russia scientific and technological cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Iranian Vice-President for Science and Technology Dr. Sorena Sattari, Scientific Advisor to Russian President Andrei Fursenko, Rector of Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichiy, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Dr. Mehdi Sanaei and a group of elite Iranian and Russian scientists.

The agreement aims at promoting cooperation in joint research and exchanging knowledge and experience in bilateral scientific workshops, forums and conferences.

The key areas of cooperation include exchange of scientists, Ph.D. candidates and students; supporting joint projects related to interdisciplinary researches at MEGASCIENCE facilities, holding joint conferences, developing bilateral calls and etc.

RFBR is a self-governed state nonprofit organization created by the decree of the president of the Russian Federation. The purpose of this foundation is to provide financial support for basic research on a competitive basis. This foundation holds 17 kinds of competitions and competition programs for supporting scientists, including international ones in collaboration with 26 countries.
