Department of Environment’s Public and Media Relations Office has reported that Abbas Zare had announced spotting of a third Persian leopard (Panthera pardus saxicolor) in less than a month in Mahdishahr, Semnan province; “the environment patrol serving in Sidva in Parvar protected area spotted Persian leopard and managed to film and to take photograph of the animal in a natural conduct of the animal; this is a third such animal of Persian leopard species being spotted in the region; two weeks ago, our patrolling staff spotted two other animals moving as a group; the difference of appearance indicates a different species of the third animal,” he was quoted as saying.
“Since the beginning of the year (March 21, 2015), this is the 7th of the valuable species that is being spotted in Mahdishahr,” Zare added.
