TEHRAN, Aug. 10 (MNA) – Head of Parliament National Security Commission said US wrong policies are the cause of unbridled spread of terrorism in the region and its continuation will pose a global threat to all countries.

Head of Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaedin Boroujerdi made the remarks in a Sunday meeting with Gubaz Sanikidze, the Head of Iran-Georgia Parliamentary Friendship Group, in Tehran.

The Iranian official added that the fight against terrorism must be pursued with the serious and continuous cooperation of all regional countries.

Boroujerdi further referred to the long-standing relations between Iran and Georgia, saying “the two countries have always enjoyed good and positive ties and Iran’s Parliament welcomes the expansion of political, economic and cultural relations with Tbilisi.”

Gubaz Sanikidze, for his part, deemed Iran and the 5+1 nuclear deal one of the greatest events of recent years, adding “the agreement proved that negotiations and dialogue are the best solution and that sanctions fall ineffective in resolving any conflicts.”

He also highlighted his country’s determination in developing relations with the Islamic Republic, saying the two countries must make great use of the existing potentials to improve political, trade, cultural and especially parliamentary ties.

He further added that Iran’s positive role in regional developments particularly in countering terrorism can greatly help restore stability and security to the region.
