TEHRAN, Aug. 09 (MNA) – Meeting with Iranian Police officials, Afghan deputy minister has called for more ties in fight against drug trafficking and drug abuse.

In a meeting with Iranian Police Commander Moayedi, Afghan Deputy Minister General Baz Mohammad Ahmadi expressed gratitude to Iran and Drug Police and described drugs a reason of insecurity and instability in the region; "since dealing with scourge of drug is an international and regional issue, we need to have regional cooperation to solve this problem," Ahmadi said.

"Afghanistan was involved in civil war and conflicts for the past 30 years and this has led to the spread of drugs in our country. Now the outbreak and spread of drug in south and west of Asia, where was under the realm of rioters and Taliban, have increased dramatically," Afghan official said.

Expressing pleasure that Iran has always been with people and government of Afghanistan, and had a good and close cooperation with Afghanistan, Ahmadi called for improved bilateral cooperation between Iran anf Afghanistan.
