TEHRAN, Aug. 05 (MNA) – Iranian FM and his Syrian counterpart held a meeting on Wednesday to discuss regional issues.

The two officials discussed the latest regional developments especially in Syria and the fight against Takfiris in the country.

Walid Muallem who arrived in Iran on Tuesday, visited Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, President Vladimir Putin's special Middle East representative, in Tehran on the first day of his visit to Iran.

A trilateral meeting between Zarif, Bogdanov and Muallem will also take place on Wednesday to discuss the conflict in Syria.

On Sunday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the Islamic Republic's nuclear agreement with world powers would create better prospects for solutions in Syria and Yemen, two of the Middle East's conflict zones.

"The final solution in Yemen and Syria is political," Rouhani had earlier said in a live interview on state television on Sunday.
