To join talks already started between Iran‘s officials and Mikhail Bogdanov, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Putin's special envoy for the Middle East and Africa, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem arrived in Tehran on Tuesday afternoon.
Before meeting with Russian envoy, the Syrian official is scheduled to meet his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif before noon on Wednesday and talk on bilateral ties, international and regional developments and especially the newest changes in Syrian government forces campaign against Takfiri terrorism and extremism.
Michael Bogdanov, had already held a meeting with Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hussein Amir-Abdollahian on Tuesday focusing on the latest status of Syrian and regional developments.
Muallem’s trip to Iran comes after the UN special envoy to Syria, Staffan de Mistura, paid a visit to Tehran in late July and held talks with Iranian foreign minister and Deputy-FM Amir-Abdollahian.
