TEHRAN, Jul. 28 (MNA) – During the meeting between Iranian FM Zarif and Iraqi President Fouad Massoum, the two sides called for cooperation among Middle East countries to establish peace and stability in the region.

In a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammd Javad Zarif in Baghdad on Monday, Iraqi President Fouad Massoum called for cooperation among Iran, Iraq, Turkey and Persian Gulf states specially Saudi Arabia, saying it would be very important to establish peace and stability in the region.

The Iraqi president also hailed the finalization of the nuclear agreement between Iran and the 5+1 countries, saying the accord would lead to stability and peace in the region and its benefits would not only include Iran but the whole region.

“After the nuclear agreement, regional equations have changed, and there is no longer the fear or fabricated threat of an atomic bomb. Therefore, it is now possible to cooperate for eradication of terrorism in the region, especially ISIL,” said President Massoum.

The Iranian foreign minister, for his part, said the nuclear agreement has been the result of Iran's novel outlook which could help the settlement of regional problems as well.

“I chose my first visit after the nuclear agreement to the neighboring and regional states to deliver the message that we and regional countries can promote dialog and cooperation to remove misunderstandings,” Zarif said.

Following the recent nuclear agreement between Iran and the 5+1, Mohammad Javad Zarif launched a new round of regional diplomacy by visiting Kuwait and Qatar on Sunday. He arrived in Iraq on Monday and held talks with his Iraqi counterpart Ibrahim Jaafari, President Fouad Massoum and Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi.
