VIENNA, Jul. 03 (MNA) – Iran’s top negotiator Araghchi commented on Amano’s visit to Tehran and debates over PMD.

Senior Iranian negotiator Seyed Abbas Araghchi told the reporters in Vienna that he welcomed IAEA chief Yukiya Amano’s travel to Tehran adding that Iran is ready to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to help remove misunderstandings regarding the so-called Potential Military Dimensions (PMD) of Iran's nuclear program.

Calling PMD a chronic story of many years ago when the baseless claims led more pressure and sanctions to be imposed on Iran, Araghchi valued the occasion of talks to remove the misunderstandings regarding Iran's wholly-peaceful nuclear program.

"To reach a transparent result, we are ready to help Mr. Amano review the claims filed against Iran’s program and gain the vantage point over Iran’s civilian program," the top negotiator added.

Meanwhile Araghchi expressed content with Amano’s Thursday visit to Tehran and pointed to reports from both Iranians in Tehran and Amano’s colleagues in Vienna who marked the visit an advance in cooperation.

In a statement on Friday, Amano said that Iran and the UN body have a 'better understanding' in some areas but stressed that more work is required.

"The purpose of the visit was to advance work towards the resolution of all outstanding issues regarding Iran’s nuclear program, including clarification of possible military dimensions," Amano said. "I believe that both sides have a better understanding on some ways forward, though more work will be needed."
