Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham stressed the need for an immediate halt to foreign military interventions in Yemen, saying the Saudi attacks on Yemen's infrastructure and civilian targets is "a continued and brazen violation of human rights.”
While laying emphasis on the adherence to international law and regulations, Afkham called on countries to facilitate the activities of relief and rescue organizations affiliated with the UN and their representatives in assisting the war-afflicted civilians.
The Foreign Minister Spokeswoman once again expressed her deepest concern over the severe human condition in Yemen, urging the UN to intensify efforts in delivering humanitarian aid to Yemeni people.
As a result of the airstrikes conducted on 28 June by Saudi Coalition forces in the southern city of Aden, the UN Development Programme (UNDP) office was severely damaged and a guard working for the Organization was injured.
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Monday censured the airstrike, saying the incident underscores the imperative that “the parties to the conflict must end the fighting and return to the negotiation table as the only possible way to achieve a durable peace in Yemen.”
The Riyadh regime launched military aggression against Yemen on March 26 to bring back to power Yemen’s fugitive former president, Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
The reports indicate that about 2,000 people have been killed and over 500,000 displaced as a result of the conflict in the Arab country since March 19.
