TEHRAN, Jun. 23 (MNA) – Yousef Kargar’s short film ‘Aghi’ is to compete at the 12th edition of Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival in Yerevan, Armenia.

A short film produced by Urmia office of IYCS, Aghi tells the story of an old man who has been waiting for the return of his missing son for 25 years.

The film has been chosen from 1,600 short films submitted to the festival’s secretariat from 105 countries to compte with 20 other film productions in the short film section.

Aghi will be competing for awards with various countries including Spain, Georgia, Switzerland, Russia, Romania, France, Ukraine, Poland, Argentina, Denmark, Brazil, Armenia and Serbia.

Kargar’s production has enjoyed a number of international screenings at various film festivals including Silk Screen Film Festival in US, the 18th Zanzibar Film Festival in Tanzania, Salisbury University's Student Film Festival in US, Cannes Short Film Corner competition and Cinema Povero International Film Festival in Italy.

The 12th Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival will take place July from 12-19, 2015.
