TEHRAN, Jun. 02 (MNA) – President Rouhani hailed the resistance of Syria against terrorism, adding other countries would not be able to impose their own conditions on Syrian nation.

In a Tuesday meeting with Syrian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Laham in Tehran, President Hassan Rouhani expressed optimism for the ultimate victory of Syria’s nation and armed forces in the fight against terrorism.

Maintaining that while the Syrian people have been gripped with an ‘unwanted war’ imposed by some countries and terrorist groups, President Rouhani added once a nation is determined to resist against all complicated schemes, they will surely triumph the way Iran did by overcoming Saddam Hussein during Iran-Iraq Imposed War in 1980-88.

“Regrettably, some regional states have made the miscalculation of arming the terrorist groups in the vain hope to use them as a tool to obtain their goals, but sooner or later terrorism will also befall them,” said Rouhani.

Mohammad Jihad al-Laham, for his part, commended Iran’s principled position based on human values and approved by all religions, criticizing the United Nations for failing to implement the Islamic Republic’s proposal of a world against violence and extremism.

Expressing his deepest regret over the support of some countries for the terrorists in Syria, al-Laham said these countries are operating on what the US and the West have planned which is undoubtedly in line with serving the interests of the Israeli regime.

Arriving in Tehran on Monday, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Laham also met with Iranian counterpart Ali Larijani and further discussed the current regional and global developments and improvement of bilateral ties.
