TEHRAN, May 21 (MNA) – Ban Ki-moon’s Special Envoy for Yemen who is visiting Tehran met with Iranian FM Zarif.

UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Valad Sheikh Ahmad discussed latest regional developments with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Thursday.

Iran expressed indignation at Saudi aggression on Yemen and appealed to the International Criminal Court to bring to justice the Saudi leaders for indiscriminate bombardment of Yemen and targeting civilian areas perpetrating cold-blood mass killing of innocent women and children.

Ahmed, for his part, pointed to UN efforts to dispatch aid to the war-stricken people of Yemen and hoped that the aid will reach the destination in the matter of days.

On Tuesday Iran regretted the resumption of Saudi air strikes on Yemen.

Iranian foreign minister called on the United Nations to create a green zone in Yemen to allow the delivery of humanitarian supplies to the country.

Held in Foreign Ministry’s Political and International Studies Center, the meeting kicked off at noon Tehran local time.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian also sat the meeting.
