TEHRAN, May 20 (MNA) – The 1st International and 9th national Biotechnology Congress with top level guests and invited speakers from Iran and the world will be held in Tehran from 24-26 May.

Director of Iran’s 1st International and 9th national Biotechnology Congress Kasra Esfehani noted that the latest scientific findings in the field of biotechnology as well as the existing concerns and issues will be the topic of discussions during the two-day event.

According to Esfahani, over 1000 articles from various countries have been so far submitted to the secretariat of the congress. More than 20 top level foreign professors and doctors have been invited to deliver speeches at the event.

The congress covers a wide range of topics including medical biotechnology, plant biotechnology, animal biotechnology, biotechnology in industry and mining, bioinformatics, and bioethics.

Esfehani also noted that despite the limited number of researchers in the field of medical biotechnology, the country has accomplished considerable achievements in production of recombinant drugs.

Pharmaceutical biotechnology in Iran has advanced to a degree that the country is exporting biotech medicinal drugs abroad including Europe. There have been also contracts for tech transfer to other countries.  

The First International and 9th National Biotechnology Congress will be held from 24 to 26 May, 2015 in Tehran. The congress is hosted by the Biotechnology Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The conference venue is Shahid Beheshti University International Conferences Center, Tehran, Iran.

The event will follow the Iran Biotech Expo 2015 (Iran Bio 2015) which will be held in Iran International Exposition Center, Tehran.
