TEHRAN, May 10 (MNA) – The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq (SRSG), Mr. Ján Kubiš today condemned in the strongest terms the suicide attacks against several mosques in the northern province of Diyala.

Presenting his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and whishing a speedy recovery to those injured, Mr. Kubiš said in Baghdad“Such ignominious acts contradict Islam’s spirit of tolerance and peaceful co-existence, and further demonstrate that the criminal groups who carry them out only aim at dividing and destroying Iraq’s social fabric.”

Targeting worshippers during Friday prayers, bombers attacked two mosques in Diyala province. Dozens of worshipers were killed and injured.
