Leader’s official website reported that Ayatollah Khamenei appointed Brig. Gen. Hossein Ashtari as the new commander of the Law Enforcement Force of Islamic Republic of Iran. The statement by Leader also commended the former Force commander Brig. Gen. Esmail Ahmadi Moqaddam for his ‘selfless and effective attempts during the tenure in the position.’
The statement was addressed to Ashtari and attributed his appointment to ‘good record of service’ and ‘competence demonstrated during the career in police force,’ which made him a good candidate by the Minister of the Interior, who acts by Leader’s mandate and as his deputy over the police forces; it also praised Ahmadi Moqaddam’s ‘laudable record specifically restoring the Islamic and Revolutionary mentality to the Forces, bolstering the border patrol, excellent personnel services, and reduction of driving laws infringement in roads.
The statement also recommended the new commander to continue the services which began during Ahmadi Moqaddam’s incumbency. It demanded that the secretariat of Supreme National Security Council, General Staff of the Armed Forces, state TV and Radio Broadcaster, three branches of Judiciary, Executive, and Legislature, and Planning and Management Organization, and especially Ministry of the Interior to cooperate with Forces.
