GENEVA, Mar. 02 (MNA) – During the meeting with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Iranian FM expressed deep concern over the export of terrorism from the West to the Middle East.

Upon arrival in Geneva to take part at the Monday session of the UN Human Rights Council as well as to attend the nuclear negotiations, Mohammad Javad Zarif met with United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein.

During the meeting, Zarif expressed Iran’s readiness to improve the level of talks and cooperation between the Islamic Republic and the commissioner for Human Rights.

He also highlighted Iran’s deep concern over the Islamophobia phenomenon and its increasing spread in the West, as well as the export of terrorism from the Western countries to the Middle East.

He stressed the need for a serious and indiscriminating fight against terrorism and extremism, while criticizing the utilization of double standards by the West and the misuse of freedom of speech that would lead to insulting religious sanctities.

Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, for his part, announced readiness for developing the level of talks and cooperation with Iran, adding “I warmly welcome any effort that helps improve the status of human rights.”
