TEHRAN, Jan. 28 (MNA) – 176 animations have been selected to compete in the ninth Tehran International Animation Festival (TIAF).

After reviewing 1,040 animation titles submitted to the festival, the selection committee finally selected 176 to compete in the international competition section.

The shortlisted works include 137 titles for the international competition section (119 international and 18 Iranian works), 36 student films (30 international and 6 Iranian works), and 3 feature animation films.

The selection committee of this year’s edition comprises Ahmad Kalantari, Kianoush Abedi, Amir Hassan Nedaei, Mohamamd Ali Shadmani and Sara Khalili.

The opening of the first Tehran International Animation Festival took place in February of 2000. With the remarkably high participation of 70 countries with over 1,000 films and submission of 800 national films and also presence of 30 animation producers in the third market demonstrates that TIAF has found its way and is determined to take decisive steps to lead and support Iranian animation in the future.

The ninth Tehran international animation festival will be held on March 8-12, 2015 in Tehran.
