TEHRAN, Dec. 31 (MNA) –In a meeting with Iran ambassador to Jordan, mayor of Amman welcomed the idea of announcing Tehran and Amman as sisters and called for improvement of cultural and public relations in urban management.

According to IRNA, Boltadji, former MP and Tourism Minister of Jordan and current mayor of Amman, highlighted the critical role and task of municipalities in serving the society.

Mojtaba Ferdowsipour, for his part, pointed to Iran’s great achievements and success in urban management including application of advanced technologies in managing a metropolis like Tehran and elaborated on cooperation and development grounds.

Iranian official, moreover, asked for reinforcement and deepening of the cooperation between Tehran and Amman municipalities as sister cities, which was warmly welcomed by Boltadji.

Two officials also negotiated the most important issues of their capitals and cooperation on urban furniture, green environment, cultural centers, crisis management, bus transportation system, waste management, and recycling.

Concerning the membership of Amman and Tehran in Metropolise (World Association of the Major Metropolises), Iran’s ambassador and Amman’s mayor stressed the necessity of two cities bilateral consultation and also their responsibilities as Muslim countries at the international level.
