Ali Larijani who was speaking upon arrival on Saturday from his visit to Pakistan, said the agreement was made on issues like mutual relations, improvement of economic tie, security issues, terrorism and parliamentary cooperation.
In a meeting with Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain, Larijani emphasized on cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad to solve the issue of border insecurity.
Pointing to some important regional and international issues, Iran’s Parliament speaker described Pakistan as a ‘good friend’ and said: “The cultural relations between the two nations have a long history and I’m sure outcome of our efforts will be maintenance of peace with our neighbors.”
“We know that our enemies abuse all these issues and I believe the extremists are created in the region by enemies’ aids.”
He also referred to the meetings he had with his Pakistani counterpart adding that the two countries had a great capacity for trade. He dubbed his talks on economic ties fruitful and expressed hope the results would solve problems in this regard.
Larijani also emphasized on the necessity of collaboration on the issue of Afghanistan and pointed that Iran and Pakistan had to support establishment of peace in this country. Larijani also reiterated that Iran’s stance for Afghanistan was to cooperate with Pakistan.
Iranian official described Pakistan’s stance on fighting terrorism as ‘good and positive’ and asserted that Islamabad’s approach would be effective.
Larijani, however, reminded the presence of insurgents in Iran and Pakistan borders and said: “Terrorists’ presence and activities at borders have unfortunately created a poisonous atmosphere in Iran. But we should not let them harm our relations and it seems that we can solve this problem together.”
President Mamnoon also, for his part, welcomed the visit by Larijani and called it a sign of Iran’s will to develop mutual relations between Iran and Pakistan.
He also referred to his talks with President Rouhani during the Nowruz (Persian New Year) celebrations in Kabul about the borderline issues and said “we can confront the insurgents with cooperation.”
“I do believe in the doctrines of our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and therefore I consider all Muslims as brothers,” said President Mamnoon Hussain emphasizing on his country’s policy of close ties with all countries “especially our neighbors including Iran.”
He also pointed to Pakistan’s responsibility to construct its share of Iran-Pakistan pipeline project and and called for more economic ties between the two countries.
