TEHRAN, Nov. 30 (MNA) – An NIORDC official has said that the company will cooperate with Russian and Dutch contractors in hybridization of power plants.

Qasem Arab Yarmohammadi, who was speaking on the sidelines of inauguration ceremony of two new electricity power plants on Sunday, told reporters that Iran’s current network of 14,000km pipeiline transferred crude oil and other related products. “In recent negotiations with foreign companies to carry out intelligent Pipeline Inspection Gauge in the oil product transfer network of pipelines, a Dutch company was given the contract to implement the project,” he told reporters. “Part of the intelligent PIG operation in the north and northeastern part of the network has been contracted to a Russian company,” he added.

The director of Iranian Oil Pipelines and Telecommunications Company (IOPTC) northeastern region also emphasized that the intelligent PIG operation sought to detect weaknesses and critical bottlenecks in the network; “After the PIG operation by foreign company, the cover change, repairs of eroded sections in the pipelines and other technical problems are addressed on the outer surface of the pipeline to improve the sustainability and endurance of the network in general,” said Yarmohammadi.

He also added that the connection of electricity power plants to national oil refining and distribution network was also on the agenda. “According to agenda, Semnan and Shahroud power plants have been connected to national network of pipelines, with additional advantage of saving costs of 30 oil tankers transferring oil products in the roads,” he told reporters. “An average of 1 million liters of oil product are consumed in electricity power plants; connection of power plants to national network would help these power plants to use oil products in addition to natural gas as fuel,” Yarmohammadi said.
