TEHRAN, June 17 (MNA) – Head of Iran’s Pasteur Institute has said some newly-developed vaccines are being tested on animals.  

Dr. Mostafa Qanei told Mehr News that Pasteur Institute was a knowledge-based center in the country and had branches in Tehran, Karaj and Amol.

“Pasteur Institute should not be considered rival for private sector and all companies can make progress there. We help companies establish, help them economically; Pasteur Institute trains experts for other sectors,” said Qanei.

With a recommendation by WHO (World Health Organization) Iran started research for production of vaccines for retrovirus for children and antibody injectable for polio.

He added that Pasteur Institute produced other vaccines like flu, malaria, brucellosis, leishmaniasis which were tested on animals and would be industrially produced if successful the results.
