TEHRAN, March 3 (MNA) – Iranian deputy-FM for Arab and African affairs and Russian deputy-FM have discussed the latest developments in Syria.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian who is visiting Moscow heading a delegation to Russia met with Russian deputy-FM Mikhail Bogdanov, who is Putin’s special envoy to the Middle East and discussed the latest developments in Syria.

Both sides emphasized upon a political solution for ending the crisis in Syria. Deputy foreign ministers also discussed the most important issues of interest in western Asia and North Africa.

After meeting with Russian counterpart, Amir-Abdollahian told the press that Tehran and Moscow strongly continue support for Syrian people and efforts to restore peace and a democratic path by Syria. “In Syrian context, the opposition who believes in non-military and political solution is quite different from Takfiri terrorist groups,” Amir-Abdollahian believed, “other players in Syria seek to solve the crisis through violence and military means, and they repeat the errors of 3 years ago.”

Mikhail Bogdanov expressed Russia’s willingness to exchange opinions with Iran about important regional issues. “We discussed the dire situations in the Middle East and North Africa,” said Bogdanov, “we have common analysis and view of the understanding of the regional and international developments.”

“Russia believes that there is no solution for Syrian crisis than political solution,” he added, and that “other international players should help Syria to find the right path to end the crisis.”
