“We are already in an extremely complicated situation and future events cannot be predicted and we do not have control over them… and we should prepare ourselves for all scenarios and should not let sanctions become problematic for us in the future,” former IRGC commander Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi said on Sunday.
Commenting on the UN Security Council’s latest sanctions resolution and other unilateral sanctions imposed on Iran, Safavi said, “In my view, the coalition for the war on Saddam Hussein, the same coalition, with its political, economic, and cultural characteristics, has been reestablished.”
In other words, certain countries from Europe and other parts of the world, with the United States in the lead, which could not realize their hostile plot against Iran during the 1980-1988 war with Iraq, are making efforts to create problems for the Islamic Republic by imposing economic sanctions, mounting political pressure, and attempting to increase tension inside the country, he opined.
Thus, Iran should be prepared for every imaginable scenario, he added.
