Velayati says Rohingya crisis ‘Israeli plot’

TEHRAN, Sep. 10 (MNA) – In a statement issued on Saturday, Iranian Leader's senior adviser Ali Akbar Velayati strongly condemned the persecution of Myanmar’s Muslim minority group, pointing to Israel's role behind the crisis.

Ali Akbar Velayati, Head of Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council, expressed his regret over the suffering and cruelty endured by the oppressed people of the South East Asiam country of Myanmar.  

He went on to pinpoint Israel's role in the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Rakhine State, stressing that the regime has conspired with Myanmar's government against Rohingya Muslims.

Velayati also stated that it is the responsibility of all international organizations such as the United Nations, Human Rights Watch, Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other countries to recognize these horrendous crimes as a systematic plot.

The Iranian senior official further made an appeal to all the prominent figures and authorities, groups, parties, movements and Islamic governments as well as the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Organization of Islamic Cooperation and Human Rights Watch to urge the government of Myanmar to put an immediate stop to further crimes against Rohingya Muslim minority group.

He also called for a fact finding mission to be deployed to Myanmar in order to assess the conditions of Rohingya people and send humanitarian aids.
