Gaza withdrawal a defeat of ‘Nile to Euphrates theory’

Gaza withdrawal a defeat of ‘Nile to Euphrates theory’

TEHRAN, Aug. 30 (MNA) – The withdrawal from Gaza will not be Israel’s last retreat, Abu Jihad, a representative of the Palestinian resistance group the Islamic Jihad said on Tuesday.

Speaking at a roundtable meeting entitled “Israel’s Withdrawal from Gaza, Consequences and Perspectives” held at the offices of the Tehran Times and the Mehr News Agency, he said that the withdrawal from Gaza is only the beginning of a series of retreats from other occupied territories.

The Zionist movement which first appeared 200 years ago is based on two principles, ‘expansionism’ and the ‘occupation of Palestine’ as a holy land, Abu Jihad explained.

These principles served as a starting point for the Zionists to implement their theory ‘from Nile to Euphrates’, he added.

“The ‘Nile to Euphrates’ theory has faced defeat and ‘settlement’ plans that formed the entity of the Zionist regime were harmed greatly with the recent withdrawal.”

Over the past century, it was always the Arabs and Muslims who gave concessions to Israel, but today the Zionist regime is giving concessions to Palestinians, he observed.

Abu Jihad called the Zionist community a military hamlet, saying that security serves as the community’s main pillar.

“Palestinian resistance groups like Hamas and the Islamic Jihad tried to damage this pillar and Israel received some heavy blows in the Gaza strip.”

“Whenever Israel launched an attack against the Palestinians in Gaza, we responded by launching a similar attack at the heart of the occupied territories in Tel Aviv,” he stated.

“The Palestinian resistance had created a strategic balance in Israel.”

“Jihadi groups proved that they have created a certain amount of fear among Zionist officials despite their military power and technological superiority.”

“The Zionist regime reached a point where it faced an ‘increase in occupation costs’ and this led to some changes in their political decisions, the withdrawal from Gaza was one of these decisions,” he commented.

The blood of the Palestinian nation foiled the plots of the Zionist regime and forced them to retreat, Abu Jihad exclaimed.

“It was not negotiation and dialogue that led to the withdrawal.

“The enduring resistance of the Palestinian people forced them to retreat.”

Abu Jihad noted that Palestinian resistance groups plan to continue their resistance in the West Bank and the Beit-ul-Moqaddas region.

“The West Bank is currently occupied and our fierce struggles will be based there as well as in Beit-ul-Moqaddas.”
