Iran soon to launch coop. with Airbus on plane spare parts

TEHRAN, Dec. 05 (MNA) – Managing director of Iran Aviation Industries Organization said Iran will begin cooperation with Airbus on the manufacture of airplane spare parts in the near future.

Manouchehr Manteghi, head of Iran’s National Space Center and the managing director of Iran Aviation Industries Organization, said negotiations have been held with Airbus over cooperation with Iran on the manufacturing of airplane spare parts, and Iran Aviation Industries will launch cooperation with the leading aircraft manufacture in the near future.

He went on to add that work has already begun on manufacturing aircraft spare parts in the country.

Following the landmark nuclear deal between Iran and 5+1 group of countries which led to the removal of certain anti-Iranian sanctions, the US Treasury Department on Nov. 21 gave Airbus go ahead to sell 106 commercial planes to Iran Air. Although based in France, Airbus still needs to obtain the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) approval to sell planes to Iran because at least 10% of the parts used to build the aircraft are made in the US.
