National footballers arrive in Malaysia

TEHRAN, Nov. 09 (MNA) – The national Iranian football team who had left Tehran early on Tuesday for Malaysia arrived in Kuala Lumpur at 09:20 p.m. local time to prepare for FIFA 2018 qualification against Syria.

To play their away match against Syrians, the national Iranian football team left Tehran, early on Tuesday, for Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur as the Syrians play their home matches outside Syria due to security concerns from the Syrian War. This is the fifth fixture of Cheetahs in Group A of Asia’s qualifying campaign for Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Seremban city of Malaysia will be the venue for the event between Iran and Syria on Tuesday November 15, 2016.

Ahead of their match against Syria, national footballers, who have garnered 10 points out of their last 4 games and enjoy the top of the Group A standings, will play a friendly with Papua New Guinea on November 11.

Carlos Queiroz’s squad left Tehran without Alireza Beiranvand and Vahid Amiri who are injured and even could not serve their club, Persepolis, at the fixture against Sanat Naft in the Persian Gulf Premier League of Professional Football.
