Four fencers cruise to Table of 64

TEHRAN, Nov. 05 (MNA) – All four representatives of Iran have cruised to Table of 64 at Men Sabre World Cup underway in Senegal.

Despite a defeat against a French fencer, Farzad Baher Arasbaran was directly led to the main table of the tournament after defeating American, Italian, Polish and Senegalese rivals.

Mohammad Rahbari, Iran’s other sabre fencer, defeated a host country opponent in the first round before subduing Bulgarian and Turkish representatives. Rahbari found his way to the Table of 96 for suffering two losses though he later secured a place at the Table of 64 by overcoming a fencer from Mali.

Previously, Iran’s Olympian fencers Mojtaba Abedini and Ali Pakdaman had been placed in the main table of the sportive event without holding competitions since they enjoy high world rankings.

Men Sabre World Cup kicked off on November 04 in the Senegalese capital of Dakar and will run through November 06, 2016.
