University of Tehran, Russia's SPSU to form joint academy

TEHRAN, Nov. 05 (MNA) – St. Petersburg State University (SPSU) of Russia plans to develop cooperation with four Iranian universities in Tehran and Isfahan.

“Currently, we hold collaborations with University of Tehran and Isfahan University of Technology in various fields,” stated SPSU’s vice rector adding “plans have been made to also deepen ties with Shahid Beheshti University and Sharif University of Technology.”

“The Russian university’s relations with Isfahan University of Technology pertains to fields of humanities though ties with University of Tehran will hopefully be elevated in areas like engineering, biotechnology, mythology and physics,” he continued.

The official reiterated that “in line with expansion of relations between SPSU and University of Tehran, experts from the Iranian university are slated to make presence in Saint Petersburg Technology Park in order to conduct scientific activities.”

“The Joint Academy of Iran and Russia is also expected to be established in collaboration with University of Tehran,” he underlined.

The official further recalled that Russian students, though very few in number, are studying at universities of the Iranian capital and plans are being made to increase the figure; “the same aim is being pursued for Iranian students who are staying in Russia.”

Vice rector of SPSU called for common scientific and educational cooperation between Iranian and Russian universities for good projects to emerge in consequence.

“The course for Farsi language has been offered at the St. Petersburg State University which marks one of the oldest seats in the Faculty of Philosophy of SPSU,” he underlined.

Tehran’s Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanaei is the honorary professor at SPSU and venues have been probed for development of cooperation between Russian and Iranian universities, he concluded.
