Chamran reelected as TCC chairman

TEHRAN, Aug. 30 (MNA) – Mehdi Chamran was reelected as the chairman of the Tehran City Council (TCC) on Tuesday morning.

The election ceremony for the fourth year of the fourth term of Tehran Islamic City Council was officially held on Tuesday morning in Tehran.

Mehdi Chamran remained in his position as the chairman by winning 17 votes while his rival Ahmad Masjedjamei only received 13 votes.

There was also a competition among Morteza Talaei, Ahmad Hakimipour and Rahmatollah Hafezi over vice-presidency of the Council while Talaei gained the upper hand by bagging 17 votes. Hakimipour received 13 voted whereas only one vote was in favor of Hafezi.

Votes were also collected to choose two secretaries of the board of directors. Abolfazl Ghana’ati, Mohsen Pirhadi, Mohammad Mahdi Tondguyan and Mohsen Sarkhu were candidates for the positions while Pirhadi and Ghana’ati collected 17 votes apiece and were named secretaries of board of directors. Sarkhu and Tnodguyan received 13 and 15 votes, respectively.

Furthermore, Reza Taghipour remained as the spokesperson of Tehran City Council after he was given 16 votes by the members.

The council is an elected body that supervises civic activities in Tehran, elects the mayor of the city and ratifies the budget of the Municipality of Tehran.
