Mohammad Javad Zarif, Foreign Minister of Iran, held a third telephone conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Saturday and conferred on the latest internal developments in Turkey in the wake of the Friday’s attempted coup by the country’s military units.
During the conversation, the Turkish foreign minister updated Zarif on the current situation in Turkey. The Iranian top diplomat has been in contact with the Turkish official following the onset of crisis in the Eurasian country.
Zarif reaffirmed the Islamic Republic’s position on Turkey’s coup as strongly denouncing the incident and lauded Turkish people’s role in defending democracy.
