IRGC former gen. denies claims on involvement in Aleppo liberation

TEHRAN, May 14 (MNA) – Maj. Gen. Mohsen Rezaei denied rumors over his appointment as a military adviser for the liberation of Syrian city of Aleppo from terrorist groups.

Secretary of Expediency Council and former IRGC general Major General Mohsen Rezaei rejected the claims of a foreign news agency over his appointment as a military adviser for the liberation of Aleppo as ordered by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, adding “I am at the service of my brothers and that is why I’m in my military combat gear to help the best I can, but the claim is not true.”

Rezaei went on to add, “what happened in Khan Touman village was the result of an international cooperation. A number of Saudi and Turkish generals took advantage of the ceasefire and seized control of Khan Touman under heavy fire and with the loss of many Takfiri terrorists, but with the help of God, we will take our revenge.”

The major general further asserted that the liberation of Aleppo is ‘no easy task’, adding “this region is connected to Turkey at two points where weapons and ammunition can be easily brought into it and reach the terrorists’ hands, but Aleppo will be liberated by the grace of God.”

Mohsen Rezaei's statement following the the martyrdom of 13 Iranian military advisers and 21 others who sustained injuries during terrorist attacks in Khan Touman village, south of the city of Aleppo, caused certain Arab media to speculate about his possible appointment as a military adviser for Iranian forces in the liberation of Aleppo from Takfiri terrorists. The retired IRGC general has denied the claim.
