Swiss embassy received the notification on Wednesday as the US Interests Section in Tehran. The notice addressed use by the US of a geographically and historically inaccurate name for Persian Gulf in draft of one of congressional resolutions. The notice also refutes any intervention by US in providing security of the Persian Gulf as ‘strongly rejected’ and bestows upon Iran the full discretion in taking whatsoever measure to take the security to its own hands.
Earlier in April, Swiss ambassador was summoned by the Foreign Ministry to voice strongest protests over a US court verdict on using Iranian assets as reimbursements for victims of a blast in Beirut in 1983 where 241 US military personnel had been killed.
Mohamamd Keshavarzzadeh argued that the verdict had violated a bilateral agreement in 1955 and the US international obligations in securing Iranian asset inviolability.
