Hezbollah's place 'would emerge unscathed' in ME

TEHRAN, Mar. 06 (MNA) – Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces has said the [P]GCC designation of Hezbollah as terrorist organization will have no effect whatsoever on Hezbollah’s firm place in the Middle East.

Maj. Gen. Hassan Firouzabadi told reporters on Sunday that the labelling of Hezbollah of Lebanon as terrorist organization by [Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council meeting in Tunisia late last week would have any effect on the regional balance of power in the region; “Hezbollah is a foster child of the Lebanon which has won valuable awards for the nation including clearing Zionists from south of the country and creating an insulate barrier against the infiltration by the regime,” he added.

Firouzabadi emphasized that Hezbollah had been a strong resisting force against the Zionist regime’s expansionist attempts during decades after Hezbollah was established; “the most brilliant contribution by Hezbollah is evident in providing spiritual support and a great ballast for Palestinians in their 22-day, 8-day, and 51-day wars with the Zionist regime,” he told reporters.

“The decision of Tunisia meeting is overhasty and unconsidered decision which would damage the expediencies of the Islamic world; no doubt would be cast upon the fact that the decision has been under the effect of Zionists; Riyadh and Tunisia statements seek clearly to divide the Islamic Ummah. It is so hideous that will win only the hatred of all Muslim nations for its parties,” said the major general.

Friouzabadi also believed that Saudi Arabia had waged attempts to win the company of other [Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council members in labeling Hezbollah as terrorist organization as a proxy for the US and Zionist regime in securing the stability of the regime in Occupied Territories. However, he believed, “their dream will be deferred and Hezbollah will ever enjoy its firm place in the Middle East.”
