Guardian Council sets 7-day deadline for election lawsuits

TEHRAN, Feb. 26 (MNA) – Guardian Council has issued a statement on Friday to set a 7-day deadline for accepting lawsuits to be filed about election fraud.

The Central Supervising Body of 10th Parliament and 5th Assembly of Experts Elections statement called on all candidates and the plebiscite that in case of any objections or witnessing of violations of regulations or frauds, to file law suits within 7 upcoming day beginning Friday February 26 until the end of Thursday March 3.

The statement also expressed gratitude over and extended accolade for high public turnout in the elections of Friday and equally praised the ‘supervising and executive bodies’ excellent attending their duties in holding healthy and just elections with the utmost accuracy and integrity. 

Article 69 of Assembly of Experts Elections Law and Note 1 of Article 68 of the Islamic Consultative Assembly Elections Act assert that all complaints and law suits would be effective by 7 days of the day of elections to be delivered to the Council’s secretariat located in Tehran or Council’s nationwide offices.
