Good-bad division of terrorists destructive to positive outcome in Syria

MADRID, Feb. 19 (MNA) – Iran's Deputy FM said the Western countries' trend of splitting terrorists into good and bad ones is a failed attempt to save their disciple terrorists and a destructive political process to resolve the crisis in Syria.

Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Euro-American Affairs, made the remarks Thursday in a meeting with Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo in Madrid.

The two sides met on Thursday at Santa Cruz palace in Madrid, for diplomatic dialogue on ways of consolidating bilateral ties as well as regional, international developments.

Recalling the historical depth of relations between the two countries, Takht-Ravanchi underlined Iranian positive attitudes towards the government and people of Spain.

He welcomed the presence of Spanish companies in Iran's market during post-sanctions era and described the visit of Spanish high-ranking delegation, including three ministers, to Iran a turning point in relations between the two countries and a good sign to traders and investors.

The two sides studied various fields of cooperation, including infrastructure, particularly rail transport, express trains, agriculture, mining and energy.

Expressing regret over the human crisis in Syria, Iranian diplomat called for all regional and trans-regional actors to pave the way for political dialogue on Syrian crisis and help the people of the Arab country to make decision for their own fate.

Garcia-Margallo, for his part, recalled his memorable and successful visit to Iran and expressed satisfaction with the activation of Spanish companies in Iranian markets and Iran's investment at Spain's refinery sector. He underlined the Spanish government's support for the private sector and industry.

Garcia Margallo said the agreement on international aid to the Syrian people is a good start in the right direction to politically resolve Syrian crisis.

He expressed hope the peace would come back to Syria through the cooperation of different parties and regional actors.

He also expressed regret over the continuation of humanitarian crisis in Yemen, saying that Spain will do its best through the European and international channels to advance a political approach to the crisis in Yemen.
