Iran, Africa to boost labor ties

TEHRAN, Feb. 17 (MNA) – Iran’s deputy labor minister and AU Commissioner for Social Affairs have emphasized expansion of relations in the field of employment as well as provision of vocational training to African university graduates.

In a meeting with the African Union Commissioner for Social Affairs Mustapha Sidiki Kaloko, Iran’s Mohammad Taghi Hosseini called for bolstering of bilateral cooperation in the social affairs sector saying “within the framework of defined policies and strategies, Iran’s Ministry of Labor voices readiness for reinvigoration of ties particularly in social fields.”

Hosseini, who serves as the Acting Minister for International Affairs at Minisrty of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare, expressed the country’s readiness for exchange of experience and provision of training to African people in the areas of vocational training, entrepreneurship, empowerment of women and persons with disabilities, stabilization of small and medium industries as well as social insurance.”

The official went on to add that “at the present time, Iran collaborates with Tanzania, Brunei, Zanzibar, Niger and Zimbabwe which can be expanded to the framework of the African Union in the form of training courses, holding workshops as well as deployment of instructor or experts and technical delegations.”

Mustapha Sidiki Kaloko, the Commissioner for Social Affairs at the African Union Commission, appreciated the Iran’s hosting of his accompanying delegation expressing optimism about the held talks and meetings; “in view of the capacities and capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the African Union seeks to escalate bilateral relations in all fields particularly in social affairs.”

“Being a young continent, Africa is faced with several social problems like unemployment of university graduates as well as lack of vocational skills by the youth to take part in labor market,” underlined Kaloko concluding “fortunately, Iran possesses numerous capabilities which can be of help to Africa.”
