Concurrent with the visit of Thai deputy Prime Minister to Iran on 2 Feb. with an aim to develop bilateral trade and economic ties in the post nuclear deal period, a memorandum of understanding in the field of nanotechnology cooperation was signed between Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC) and Thailand's National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC).
Objectives of the five-year MoU includes creation and development of joint activities in the field of science, technology and innovation, information exchange in the field of standardization of nanotechnology and nano safety, development and consolidation of information and operational skills exchange, exchange of scientists and researchers, granting research scholarships, scientific consultations during the implementation of cooperation, meetings, conferences, and research projects in mutually agreed fields.
The MoU which has been signed by INIC Director Dr. Sarkar and executive manager of NANOTEC, covers the following grounds:
1. Joint activities and scientific, technological and innovative exchange in the areas of ‘Nano Standards, ‘Nanometrology’, ‘Nano Mark’, ‘Nano-Q’ and ‘Nano Safety’
2. Promoting the exchange of researchers, experts, scholars and students between the two countries in the field of nanotechnology
3. Promoting and teaching nanotechnology
4. Holding joint symposia, workshops and other related activities
In addition to this MoU, the two sides also signed agreements on trade, industry and scientific cooperation in the fields of medicine, biotechnology, genetics and standards, in the presence of Iran’s minister of industry, mine and trade, minister of science, research and technology, vice president for science and technology and a number of Thai officials.
