Army to hold hostage liberation drill

TEHRAN, Feb. 02 (MNA) – Iranian Ground Force Commander has announced that a hostage liberation exercise has been put on the agenda to be held in the city of Qom.

Commander of the Iranian Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan noted that the preliminary stages of the drill has been accomplished awaiting the finals approval of General Headquarters of Armed Forces.

The commander also noted the details of purchasing T90 tanks from Russia asserting “we have achieved a satisfactory level in domestic tank production alleviating the need for buying the equipment.”

“T90 tanks remain of one of Iran’s interests and the proposal was issued to the General Headquarters of Armed Forces,” continued the official stressing “in view of the current production capacity in the country, the purchase of T90 battle tanks has been removed from the agenda.”

Commander Pourdastan stated that the Iranian Ground Forces' massive wargame will soon begin concluding “a hostage liberation drill is also likely to be held in the Aliabad city of Qom province."
