Head of National Iranian Gas Exports Company Alireza Kameli highlighted the claim made by a British media that Iran seeks to invite tenders for shares of some LNG production projects stressing “National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) has currently no plan to assign these projects to foreign oil companies or investors.”
“Any plans in this regard will be officially announced by NIOC,” emphasized the official adding “FLNG remains as one of the most modern technologies for producing LNG which transforms natural gas to LNG on the ship.”
Recalling that by using FLNG technology, far-reached hydrocarbon reserves can be exploited, where pipelines are not cost-effective, the official noted “the issue will be taken into mind in all negotiations on gas exports since the new method provides the possibility of gas exports in the least amount of time and at a low cost.”
“A total of three LNG production projects had begun in the south of the country two of which were halted due to imposed sanctions while the third one is underway for having Iranian investors,” he continued.
NIGEC managing director maintained that “in the current circumstances the completion and operation of Iran LNG factory is economically justifiable to a great extent.”
NIOC Managing Director Roknodin Javadi had recently announced that “Iran will soon join the club of LNG producers and exporters in the world.”
