Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, made the remarks on Tuesday among reporters adding, “the implementation of the nuclear agreement has improved the condition for cooperation in a way that some European and Asian countries such as China, Japan and South Korea have voiced their readiness to participate in our nuclear projects.”
According to Salehi, the construction of two 1000 MW power plants worth roughly $994 million will begin in February.
Salehi went on to add that Iran’s next projects include small 100 MW power plants, saying the first contract is in the initial stage and will be signed with the Chinese side after final agreement.
Iran’s nuclear chief then touched upon the construction of the country’s first nuclear hospital by mid-March, saying the construction will cost approximately $331 million and become one of the largest hospitals in West Asia. He added that the hospital will enter full operational phase in five years.
Salehi also noted the recent visit of the IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano to Iran, saying one of the demands made during the meeting was for the Agency to take serious measures in employing Iranian nuclear experts in the IAEA.
