PMD now part of history: Zarif

PMD now part of history: Zarif

TEHRAN, Dec. 15 (MNA) – Iran’s FM Zarif has said with Board of Governors resolution PMD allegations against Iran’s nuclear program ‘part of history’ now.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif welcomed approval of draft resolution in AEA Board of Governors with unanimous vote of members on Tuesday evening. “After 12 years, Board of Governors finally admitted completion of roadmap between Iran and the IAEA and closed the so-called issue of Possible Military Dimensions (PMD) using the term ‘close consideration’ in article 9 of the resolution,” Zarif said.

“The resolution is far beyond closing the PMD and officially annuls 12 previous resolutions of Board of Governors against Iran’s nuclear program which had made accusations and put serious restrictions on our nuclear program,” he highlighted and asserted that the Board of Governors has removed all issues regarding previous considerations from its agenda and now has ‘implementation of JCPOA’ as its new agenda for a fixed timeframe.

Iranian FM stated that the resolution closes the fabricated problem of so-called possible military dimensions of Iran’s nuclear program and “the PMD case is now part of history.”

“Despite its pitfalls, the report by Mr. Amano clearly indicates that there has been no deviation from peaceful purposes in nuclear materials thus confirming that Iran has always abided by NPT and its program has always been peaceful,” Mohammad Javad Zarif emphasized and expressed hope that the resolution would improve cooperation between Iran and the IAEA.

Zarif reiterated Iran’s constant policy of opposition to weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) and its conformity with NPT and asserted that Tehran will be committed to JCPOA ‘provided that the 5+1 meet their commitments as well.’
