Iran keen to expand ties with Algeria

TEHRAN, Nov. 23 (MNA) – Iranian First Vice-President said that Iran welcomes enhancing ties with all countries in particular Algeria.

Es’hagh Jahangiri made the remarks in a meeting this morning with Algerian PM Abdelmalek Sellal.

Discussing the Middle East and the terrorist groups including ISIL which are promoting Islamophobia, Jahangiri said “Islam is a religion of love, humanity and mercy and the Islamic countries should prevent the groups from tarnishing the image of Islam.”

Talking about the regional crises, he added that negotiations with other countries including Algeria, which hold logical stances toward the issues, can help solving the problems.

The Iranian official expressed his gratitude for Algeria’s stance during Iran’s nuclear negotiations.

Algerian PM Abdelmalek Sellal, for his part, talked about the summit meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) saying that the oil and gas producing countries should cooperate for overcoming the problem of reduced energy prices and its consequences.

He added that the Iran-Algeria cooperation can also affect the issue and pave the grounds for expanding bilateral cooperation.

He hoped that the future visit of Iran’s first vice-president to Algeria and the meeting of the joint Iran-Algeria high commission will be a turning point in their relations.

Talking about Iran’s nuclear deal, he said that the President of Algeria and its government believe that the deal was indeed a great success for the Islamic Republic which can boost Iran’s political, economic and defensive power.
