IranDoc releases book on Iranian contribution to knowledge

TEHRAN, Oct. 26 (MNA) – A book published by IranDoc has provided the record of over 28,000 items of Iranian contribution to science.

The book, ‘Iranian Knowledge: Iranians’ Participation in Global Knowledge Production, 2013,’ by Iranian Research Institute for Information Science and Technology (IRANDOC) press was coauthored by Reihaneh Ensafi, Hossein Gharibi and Sirous Alidoousti in 360 pages.

In giving the record of 28,486 items, the book incorporates data from different sources including ISI indexes (Information Sciences Institute). The first book on its series was released in 2002 by IranDoc which covered science production in Iran in 1999 and produced 968 items; the edition for contribution between 2000 and 2004 followed the suit.

The present edition has been rendered in 6 chapters; the first Introductory chapter is followed by ‘Knowledge Production in Iran,’ ‘Iranian Participation in International Knowledge Production,’ ‘Major Indices of Knowledge Production,’ ‘Universities and Research Centers Contribution,’ and an epilogue summarizes the whole discussion through tables, figures, and charts.
