Young boxers rank 4th in Ahmet Comert Boxing Tournament

TEHRAN, Oct. 25 (MNA) – Iran ranked fourth at the 30th edition of the International Youth Men Ahmet Comert Boxing Tournament in Istanbul, Turkey snatching one gold and one bronze medal.

In the semi-finals of the 60kg competitions, Iran’s Kamyab Moradi, who had defeated the South Korean boxer to reach the finals, achieved the gold medal of the competitions by winning over his Azerbaijani rival.

Pouriya Amiri at the 91kg weight failed to defeat the representative of host Turkey in the semi-finlas and received a bronze medal.

Headed by Mohammad Asheri (head couch) as well as Shahyar Roshan and Eisa Golmohammadi (couches), Iran's youth boxing team consisiting of eight boxers finished fourth bagging one gold and one bronze medal.

The 30th round of the International Youth Men Ahmet Comert Boxing Tournament wrapped up in Istanbul, Turkey, and had attracted 154 boxers from 14 countries including Azerbaijan, Georgia, Hungary, Iran, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Turkey and Uzbekistan.

Ahmet Comert (1926–1990) was a Turkish amateur boxer, coach, referee, judge and sports official. He served in the executive committee of the International Boxing Association (AIBA).

He died of apparent heart failure, while on duty during the 1990 European Junior Boxing Championship in the Czechoslovakia.
