As the 8th Asia Pacific Deaf Games in Taiwan reached its third day on Monday, Iranian male and female audibly-challenged athletes put on a remarkable performance and claimed 6 medals.
In 10,000-meter race, Iranian male sprinter Hossein Sedaghat with a record of 33.41 second landed in the first position and received the gold medal.
Another Iranian sprinter Mehran Sarfaraz with a running time of 38.11 minutes stood at the third place and grabbed a bronze medal.
In disk throw competitions, Sajjad Piaygherchaman with a record of 56.69 meters grabbed the gold medal and Reza Heidari landed in the second position with a throw of 44.66 meters.
Iran’s female sprinter Maryam Abdifard claimed the women’s 400-meter gold with a running time of 65.11 seconds.
Iranian female long jumper Soghra Rabieifard received the silver medal by producing a mark of 4.73 meters in the women’s long jump.
Iranian male and female audibly-challenged athletes have so far claimed 24 medals, including 8 gold medals, in the international event.
The 8th edition of the Asia Pacific Deaf Games opened in Taoyuan, Taiwan, on October 3 and will continue until October 11, 2015.
