Rise in Iran's gas production

TEHRAN, Sep. 12 (MNA) – Advisor to oil minister has reported that Iran’s gas production capacity has increased to 700 million cubic meters per day this Iranian year adding that, this amount will rise by 50 million cubic meters.

Delineating major plans to increase the country’s gas production, Mahmoud Astaneh said that “considering the increase in the country's gas production capacity, after the operation of South Pars phase 12 with a capacity of 100 million cubic meters, we can expect an even more increase in our gas production.”

Announcing that during the current Iranian year the gas production will rise by at least 50 million cubic meters, the Advisor to the oil minister added that, “this year’s gas production capacity will reach 700 million cubic meters while the winter peak gas consumption would reach 500-550 million cubic meters.”

Estimating that Iran’s gas production will reach one billion and 200 million cubic liters per day by the end of the sixth National Development Plan, Astaneh asserted that “only up to half of this amount will be consumed in the country.”

“Due to the increase in gas production, development of gas network in remote areas has been put on the agenda of the Oil Ministry," said this official explaining that Oil Ministry’s priority is determined based on the market.
