Iranian wins World freestyle wrestling bronze

LAS VEGAS, Sep. 11 (MNA) – Iranian freestyler Mohammadi snatched the bronze medal at 65 kilograms category of the world wrestling championships.

Iran’s Sayed Ahmad Mohammadi was Iran’s first freestyler who grabbed a medal in Las Vegas after he stood at the third place at 65 kilograms (143 pounds) division at the 2015 World Wrestling Championships.

The Iranian athlete defeated David Habat from Slovenia 12-0 in the first round to face Cuban Franklin Maren in the next round where he triumphed 6-0 and stood against American Brent Metcalf who ranked second to Iran’s Sayed Ahmad Mohammadi and edge passed him 5-4.

Mohammadi won the next round by beating George Bucur from Romania 6-1 and in semi-finals where he was ahead of Italian Frank Chamizo lost by fall and got to the Repechage event where he defeated Toghrul Asgarov from Azerbaijan 15-5 and grabbed the bronze medal of the category along with Russian Soslan Ramonov.

Frank Chamizo won the title defeating Ikhtiyor Navruzov from Uzbekistan 4-3 in the final to let the Uzbek bag home the silver medal.
