Iran-Japan to execute extradition treaty

TEHRAN, Aug. 31 (MNA) – Iranian Parliament Speaker meeting his Japanese counterpart in New York pointed to the approval of an extradition treaty between two countries expressing hope about the implementation of this agreement in near future.

During a meeting with Japan’s Parliament Speaker, Ali Larijani who is attending the Fourth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament at United Nations Headquarters in New York dubbed Japan as a friend country and said that, “there exists a positive view among Iranian officials on expanding the relations with Japan.”

“Iran and Japan enjoy deep-rooted political, economic, and cultural relations and they need to exploit all the possibilities to improve their cooperation,” added Parliament Speaker.

Larijani further asserted that, “after the removal of sanctions, the proper conditions based on mutual interests are available in Iran for expansion of relations and cooperation in economic, business, industrial, medical industry, oil, petrochemical, and investment areas even more than before and Japan can take advantage of this opportunity.

Pointing to the approval of an extradition treaty between the two countries, Larijani expressed hope that this agreement will be put into practice as soon as possible.

Japan’s parliament speaker, who was invited by Larijani to make an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, expressed his country's readiness to start a new course of political, economic, business, and cultural relations with Iran.

He also stated that Japan is content with the recent nuclear deal between Iran and the 5+1 and hopes that all parties will soon receive the executive package of the agreement.

“Japan is a victim of nuclear weapons and by having a good understanding of the difficult situation in the Middle East, we are ready to cooperate with Iran to promote regional and international peace and stability,” underlined Japanese official.

The Fourth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament will be held at United Nations Headquarters in New York from Monday 31 August to Wednesday, 2 September 2015.
