Iran marks Al-Aqsa burning anniversary

TEHRAN, Aug. 21 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry issued a statement marking the 48th anniversary of the burning of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli extremists.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry marked the anniversary of the arson attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque on 21st of August 1969.

The statement condemns the vicious intentions and brutality of the Israelis in desecrating the first Qiblah of Muslims which after 47 years is still painful for not only Muslims but also believers of other divine religions.

From early days of the occupation of Al-Quds which is the center of unity among divine religions of the world, the statement stresses, Israel has been Judaizing the holy place and removing Islamic elements of the city.

At the end of the statement, Muslim countries are called upon to get united to take a practical decided measure in stopping the Israelis and it is reiterated that Islamic Republic of Iran would support Palestinians in defending their holy places against destruction by Israelis.
